The Hunting Trail

Level of difficulty: Easy

The Hunting Trail is a 3,7km long hiking trail, which is near to the center of Juuka. The Trail introduces old and traditional hunting instruments, feeding instruments and hunting ways – for example, there are the feeding shelter of a hare, a bear trap, a tower to observe elks, a board to catch a fox from its paws and a mink bunker. A wide path is easy to walk, it’s full of history and it’s an excellent place for both kids and adults to enjoy nature. Also, the terrain of the area is highly variable: a dry hayfield changes to a coniferous forest in the blink of an eye, and after that, you’re going to find yourself from a riverside, which is covered by flourishing ferns. In addition, along the path, next to the riverside there’s a lean-to with a campfire spot. If you continue forward from the parking lot of the Hunting trail, you’ll find an outdoor shooting range of Juuka.

Route: Drive from roundabout of Juuka to Juankoski for 4km and turn right to Viitaniementie 422 (which also has an “Ampumarata” –post). Leave your car to a parking lot on your left after the metal gate, next to the building. The path starts behind the building.
